I was reviewing the install manual today for the air handler, and it said for runs of tstat wire over 50', i should use 16 gauge wire vs 18. I would like to run it for a long distance to the power source (battery or power supply) i plan to use awg 16 wire connected to the led module so i can make a big distance safely. 820 watt supply takes about 7a.

820 Watt Supply Takes About 7A.

18 ga wire at 120vac is good for close to 5 amps. I do this every day and can tell you it is not as easy. A 0 guage copper clad aluminum cord would be 0 guage in size, but it would function like a 4 guage cord.

The Aluminum Can Add A Characteristic To The Sound, While Allowing The Guage To Increase.

18 ga is next to useless and the 14 is overkill. The only reason to use thin wire is if you have to make sharp bends that thicker wire can't accommodate, in which case you could avoid the problem by tying in parallel two lengths of thin wire that can navigate the bend. There are many situations in which 16 awg wires and 18 awg wires are interchangeable and you can use either in any application.
